mandate & method
Challenging the Wall Street status quo.
The Forensic Ledger is an independent short-side newsroom and a structured archive of the published research of the industry's leading forensic desks — Muddy Waters, Citron, Viceroy, Spruce Point, Blue Orca, and Gotham City Research. We publish original analysis (Short Signals and Short News) alongside a curated, fully-sourced dossier archive of third-party reports, presented as what it is: evidence. We summarize third-party reports with citation and link to the original; we do not reproduce or spin full articles.
Our mission is to challenge a status quo in which conflicted analysts overwhelmingly issue glowing “Buy” recommendations. The goal of this website is, and has always been, to provide truthful information in an entertaining format to the investing public — never “gotcha” journalism. Readers are always encouraged to consider this and all information available regarding any potential investments, to seek professional assistance as necessary, and to draw their own conclusions.
The research catalogued here has contributed to executive resignations, regulatory investigations, media exposés and billions in market value corrections. The mission is to expose truth, inform markets, and push for accountability at the highest levels of corporate governance.
who we are
The Forensic Ledger is published by an independent editorial desk. We are not a registered investment adviser, broker-dealer, or research firm, and we do not hold positions in the securities we cover. The dossiers in the archive are the published work of independent third-party firms and remain the property and opinion of their authors; our original Short Signals and Short News are clearly labelled as our own analysis. Tips are received through our confidential tip-line.
